One friend put off for the Other...

Poetry, so many poems with so much meaning. They all bring different interpretions some short some long, but all with many thoughts out into them. With all these poems we read the poem on page 4 from Niedecker really stuck out to me.
I feel it stuck out to me because it was short, but had so much meaning and pictures through my mind on what she was describing like the sentence, my friend tree I sawed you down. Just that one sentence makes me picture so much. Like sitting in the woods with tons of tree around, but that one tree that is in the way of her sun shining through. I picture the trees with all their leaves on and full of color. The sun is out over the tree tops and you can only see the sun if you were out of woods. I also think of Niedecker as enjoying the sun when she can. Niedecker has poems that are confusing, but this poem was full thought out and not so confusing for me which helped me think and make it a easy to understand for me.
Niedecker has influenced me by helping me make sure I am descriptive in my writing and have decribing words like sounds, movements I had made, decribing exactly what it looked like where I was, and the different things I saw. I used what I learned reading her poems in my poem that I wrote:
 Deer coming close-
    as I sit and watch
hoping one to come closer to me.
Brisk, vigourous winds
    showing the signs of winter
look two more deer came out
The winds picking up blowing still
Whoosh-----
     All deer gone.
I feel I connect with Niedecker because I enjoy nature and it is something easy I can write about. I really enjoyed this poem and glad I can connect with her.

  1. Your post is very engaging, much like Niedecker's poetry. Your title and introduction really got my attention and made me want to read more. I agree completely that Lorine Niedecker creates detailed images with only a few words, and that studying her poetry can help us improve our use of imagery in our own writing.
Thank you for sharing your poem. It is very comparable to the poetry we have been studing; I can really picture the scene you have created in your poem.
